The Kansas City region has a long heritage of innovation that includes names like Joyce C. Hall of Hallmark Cards, Henry and Richard Bloch of H&R Block, Gary Burrell and Min Kao of Garmin, Ewing Marion Kauffman of Marion Labs and The Kauffman Foundation, and Neil Patterson and Cliff Illig of Cerner Corporation. There are many more innovators that may not be household names, but are equally creative and have made an important impact on the world.
